Work introduction
The idea behind the work is to shed light on the influence of Bach and this arguably most famous prelude on western classical music, starting with Bach's own music, Mozart, Beethoven, Johann Strauss, Wagner and ending with Shostakovich.
I decided to stay in the harmonic world of Bach. This means that I did not change the harmonies by and large - the original is still the “star”, but instead to surrounded by other fugal sounding elements.
The work begins with the first bars deconstructed and at a leisurely pace. Then it increases in tempo and volume until it comes to a chorale that is more reminiscent of the Renaissance to highlight the origins of Bach.
After that point one hears the entire prelude at a virtuoso tempo.
In terms of interpretation, as always with me, the interpreters are completely free.
If a certain tempo and / or dynamic doesn't fit, you have the freedom to change it.
