Work introduction
The main source of influence throughout the piece is the Gregorian chant, intended to direct the listener's consciousness "to the stars", following the trajectory of the harmonic sounds. To highlight that purity, contrasting musical sections appear, dominated by violent rhythms, melodic movements based on chromatic modes, meant to express tragedy, pain.
Campus Stellae was dedicated to the victims of the train crash that took place outside Santiago de Compostella in 2013. The piece was performed for the first time by Costin Soare during the International GUITAR NIGHTS Festival on November 5, 2015, at the George Enescu National Museum.
