Work introduction
'Cantes de rojo fuego' is an orchestral work that immerses the listener in the heart of some traditional flamenco songs. This composition is a map, a territory, a soundscape that guides us through a spectrum of emotions deeply rooted in these ancient songs. From the intense pain and lament of the 'seguiriyas y tonás', through the joviality of the 'cantiñas', to the mocking irony of the songs by 'bulerías' and the nostalgic refinement of the 'granaína', each movement of the work evokes a unique emotional picture, leading us through galleries or transitions to always unexpected moments.
The work is, therefore, a 'percorso', a path, a living structure that invites the listener to an intense and immersive affective experience. 'Cantes de rojo fuego' had its first premiere in August 2023 at the Baluarte Auditorium in Pamplona, as part of the 'Flamenco on fire' Festival. The definitive version was presented in December 2023 at the Manuel de Falla Auditorium in Granada. This last performance featured the collaboration of the dancer LaMoneta, the singer Sergio 'el colorao', the saxophonist Juan Jiménez, and the Granada City Orchestra, all under the baton of conductor Álvaro Albiach.
