The thematic material of Clear Light comes from hymns in the 17th and 9th centuries: Johann Crüger’s Schmücke dich, o liebe Seele from 1649 and Veni Creator Spiritus by Rahano Mauro from the ninth-century. Both pieces were favorites of organist, Jessie Jewitt who commissioned the piece.
