Der Lauf der Dinge

Der Lauf der Dinge is a work in which I have carried out an in-depth research on the instrument. Without having training as a bassoonist, I have learned the technical rudiments of the bassoon and have dedicated almost a whole year to composing this work from within the instrument, playing myself each of the resources that I wanted to put into play. Thus, I have fundamentally explored the idea of sound continuity through microtonal and multiphonic trills and tremolos of different types, in which a kind of rich and complex polyphonic texture is created. The title of the piece comes from the video-art work of the Swiss artists Peter Fischli and David Weiss, made in 1987, where a whole series of movements and fascinating behaviors are triggered from a simple kinetic principle.
