Work introduction
The poet Annette von Droste Hülshoff (born: 10 January 1797, died: 24 May 1848) is considered an important German poet of her time.
I wrote the poem "Der Weiher" (The Pond) on the occasion of the "Droste Tage" (Droste Days) at Hülshoff Castle near Münster in Westphalia - Germany, the poetess' birthplace, for the open air concerts that I initialised and performed.
The original instrumentation is mezzo-soprano and cello quartet.
The premiere was sung by Rebecca Blanz; the cello quartet is made up of students from the Musikhochschule in Detmold (Germany) with: Minja Spasic, Franziska Rees, Nicole Wiebke, Karl Simko.
CD production by "Droste Forum e.V. Published by encora No. Enc 020.
