Work introduction
A calm, quiet and delicate piece, very restrained in expression. To be played without any romantic sentiment, but as if mourning a loss that lacks the courage to name. Melodic lines lose themselves in the distance, fray and break off. Interjections of short, vicious attacks, painful discords and mechanical repetitions running into the void.
Blurred image
Only for half a heartbeat,
So little time passed, when
in the pale winter light my eye
the fixed vision ground to sand.
Since then and burning without sense
This moment is fixed
In silver-grey tone in tone
As rusty colourless, still image.
A mere mishmash, unmoved,
(As if a painter, abruptly
discarding his bold plan,
had scraped the drawing off
the ground again) run and faded,
A tangled web of withered veins.
And scattered without rule
The loose splinters of wild thought.
