Die Betrachtung is written for piano solo and the title means spiritual meditation, separating from external environment as well as to have the vision of God. The music is characterized by extremely sparse musical density which indicates the process of contemplation. In the middle of the piece some contrasting agitated musical materials erupt indicating the transformational process of a spirit from one stage into another stage. The music fades out unnoticeably at the end. Nevertheless, this piece is experimented with a different stylistic approach, and it is influenced by Morton Feldman as well as the “New Simplicity” of the Darmstadt school in Germany.
