Work introduction
Elegy is a brief, 1-minute “in memoriam” composed in 2015 to honor the passing of composer, mentor, and friend Ezra Sims. The haunting consonant intervals provide a touching, yet dark ambiance. The work expresses grief. The music is intentionally simple, direct, and transparent.
This version is a transcription for violin and cello from the original duo for clarinet and bass clarinet (Printed Full Score: UES103868-000)
Optionally, individual parts may be substituted between the two published versions as desired to allow for -clarinet with cello- or -violin with bass clarinet- duo combinations.
