Work introduction
This chamber work was inspired by the homonymous play by S. Beckett though following the "events" of the play itself and trying to reproduce in music the inner feelings of the characters and, above all, the general emotional sense of nothing and nowhere.
A small string orchestra accompanies the instrumental soloists witch embody the 5 characters: the boy (flute), Estragon (Clarinet), Vladimir (bass Clarinet), Lucky (Horn) and Pozzo (Bassoon). The piece opens with a slow movement of strings witch goes symbolically round in circles, as the main characters do, all day, every day.
Each listener can imagine what the different musical gestures mean in the horizon of the story, a little Opera witch actually no Opera at all.
The piece was commissioned by the Opéra de Nice to be performed at Chagall Museum in Nice in 2020 but, due to the pandemic, will be rescheduled.
