Work introduction
Work commissioned by Rémi Durupt. World Premiere in February 12 2012 at Salle Ansermet Radio RSR in Geneva (Switzerland)
The title of this score is the transliteration of the phrase 'in the rhythm' of ancient Greek. In ancient Greece, the word 'rhythm' meant concepts as varied as they were common, such as metrics, time, diction, and so on. It was a concept used in all spheres of life.
In this piece, I wanted to recover and claim the semantic versatility of this notion to describe a “travel” through the different faces that make up the rhythm: pulsation, rhythmic figures, metrics and duration. The interaction between the vibraphone and the electronics is very intimate for most of the work. This is mainly due to the use of real-time processing: all the electronics come from the vibraphone.
