The world of today is a sick place.
It is a place of cruelty.
The world makes people sick – just as people make the world sick.
People make people sick.
What happens when people don't sleep for four days in a row? I unwillingly found out the answer to this question last January on my own example.
A friend googled: "How long can a person survive without sleep?"
Wikipedia tells us: The world record for not sleeping at all is 266 hours (eleven days and two hours). I don't want to know whether the Brit Tony Wright is proud of his record from 2007.
As a side note, it says that "severe cognitive and physical impairments occur after 36 sleepless hours."
On another page, in slightly less choice language, it says: "After three days, our brain goes crazy and we feel like some kind of zombie. Concentration disorders, hallucinations and paranoia are just some of the health consequences."
The keywords mentioned in the introduction apply to myself or people close to me.
The work INSOMNIA #1 is dedicated to the Ensemble Windkraft – Kapelle für Neue Musik and its musical director Kasper de Roo (and our sick world).
