Work introduction
"Laime" is the Latvian word for "fortune", or "luck". During the summer of 2023, I travelled the Baltic country from East to West. These three short pieces for solo flute try to dwell on various moments I experienced during those weeks in Latvia. Moments in which time stopped and I could connect with the land, its fauna, its flora, and my memories.
I. "Dusk", based on an incredible twilight view of the Cathedral Square in Riga (Doma laukums).
II. "Tree tunnel", which stops at a pastoral contemplation of a tunnel of trees in the promenade surrounding the Cesvaine palace, in the municipality of Madona.
III. The last movement, "Storks dancing in the blue sky", travels to the fields of Ive, in the municipality of Talsi, a land dominated by storks that manage the green landscape at will.
