Lux ludens highlights the brilliant timbre of the harpsichord, in a virtuoso writing. The kinetic energy obtained from a frantic movement contrasts with sections composed in slow tempo, emphasizing the lyrical side of the instrument. The repetitive melodic patterns which define a perpetuum mobile in the dynamic sections, are opposed by more discontinuous melodic movements, which favor big melodic jumps.
