Work introduction
The composer in Monologue attempts to combine non-symmetrical rhythms with melodic flow, and atonality with lyricism. The work follows an intuitive approach to structure and form. This technique resulted in a series of episodes within a web of alternating tonalities. The free expression of consecutive melodic shapes capitalizes on the abilities of the oboe to produce delicate musical effects.
