ALKIS BALTAS
gemischter Chor (Nun sich der Tag geendet)Type: Chorpartitur
The work is written for six-voice choir and is dedicated to the memory of my beloved friend Spiros Argyris (1948 - 1996), a conductor who had a brilliant career abroad. His premature death plunged me into deep sorrow.
The lyrics belong to the poem "Nun sich der Tag geendet hat" (Now the day has come to an end) written by Gerhard Tersteegen (1697-1769).
· Now the day has come to an end, my heart turns to you, and gives thanks in heart; turn your lovely face to me for blessing, enlighten and kindle me.
· Time is gone, and when you have not remembered, there is nowhere good; because you have given us heart and life for you alone, the heart also rests in you alone.
· I reiterate your fatherly loyalty and protection; the darkness stores and all evil forces expel through your nearness.
· That you always surround me, that you love me dearly, and cry out to you, that you enjoy yourself so much, so pure, let me be important to you early and late.
A day that tells the other that my life is a journey to the great eternity. O eternity, so beautiful, my heart accustoms to you, my home is not at this time.
