Work introduction
This work was written for premiere performance at Forfest 2006 by two families: Forfest Co-Directors Václav and Zdenka Vaculovicovi, horn and violin, with the composer's wife and himself, piano and flute.
It celebrates the periodic convergence of the two families, often coming to the same places at the same time, but often taking different paths to get there. This is reflected musically by the extensive use of heterophony; the four instrumental parts follow the same basic melody, arriving at the same musical goals, but by divergent paths. Contrapuntal and chordal textures are used only briefly for contrast or emphasis.
World Premiere: June 18, 2006, Festival Forfest Kromeríž,
Czech Republic; Assembly Hall, Archbishop's Castle
Daniel Kessner - flute, Zdenka Vaculovicová - violin
Václav Vaculovic - horn, Dolly Eugenio Kessner - piano
