David Ernest Mc Carthy
Piano Sonata No.2
Duration: 16'
Solos:
piano
This is a tricky piano sonata, which sounds like Romantic music, but actually is pure Modernism - with notes selected from palettes of pitches that correspond with an axial (mirror-image) symmetry of the piano keyboard. The pitches on the left hand side of the axis of symmetry always reflect the pitches on the right hand side of it, to give a very visual, rewarding experience for the virtouso pianist.
