The composition Sängerin der Komischen Oper is the first piece I composed for viola solo. The painting with the same name by Paul Klee gave me the inspiration for this piece and also the dramaturgical structure of the seven miniatures. The titles of the seven pieces describe my perception of the painting: on the one hand humorous with a cheerful mood and on the other hand thoughtful.
The painterly perfection and apparent absurdity that fascinate me in Paul Klee radiate in this painting from a depth that moves between the real and ethereal worlds on several levels. This perception led me to write this composition and to musically experience these spheres more closely and to explore their sound.
The piece is composed in 2004 and revised in 2017.
