Work introduction
The complementarity of the polarities represents the basic idea of the piece: the long sounds that form a sound continuum contrast with dynamic sections, dominated by incessant movement. If in the musical sections in which the pedal sounds predominate, the subtle dynamic and timbre variations play an important role, in the contrasting sections the stable pulsation and the rhythmic accents have an increased importance. Saphonia was dedicated to the Isabella Fabbri.
