Saxy tastes
Duration: 11'
Solos:
alto saxophone in Eb
The intention of this cycle of works is to familiarize the young musician with issues that are common in today's scores. From the time of their youth, they should acquire a taste for experimentation and then this spirit of sonic adventure should be preserved when they study scores from the traditional repertoire.
Each of the five parts of the work will correspond to a taste: salty, sweet, sour, bitter, umami. Thus, in the first part, SALT-N-FREPA, salt, frullato and dynamic contrasts will spice up a saltarella dance movement. In the second part, SWEET TRILLARETTO, the trill will become an important structural component. In the third part, SOUR & SLAPY, chromatic-sour melodic contours will become the polar pairs of sounds played using the slap technique. In part four, THE ONE AND ONLY: BITTER MULTIPHONIC, the musician's challenge will be to master several unconventional techniques such as sounds played only with the keys, simultaneous emission of sung and played sound, and a multiphonic sound with a bitter tinge. In the last part, UMAMI - TSUNAMI, the sound vortex will gain consistency also thanks to some sounds emitted using the frullato technique.
Saxy tastes is revised by Kenneth Tse, recognized as one of the world's leading classical saxophonists.
