Work introduction
Scribblings is inspired by Cy Twombly’s scribblings, graffti-like, cryptic and calligraphic drawings and large scale paintings, such as the Bacchus series. The piano parts are layered like Twombly’s scribblings and the saturation gives the graffiti like feel, of approximation.
The MIDI parts of the 15 piano parts are provided as a Type 1 MIDI file and should ideally be played by 15 different acoustic pianos, if the performance permits. The string quintet should be amplified.
MIDI file can be obtained after performance rights are acquired.
