Work introduction
I have always been suggested by Maija Tabaka's painting, her chosen themes with a subjective view of life and events, with wonderful compositions and colors of paintings. In Maija Tabaka's painting Summer Ballet Shoes (2006. Materials: canvas, oil. Size: 89 x 130 cm) I see graceful figures of ballet dancers and a wonderful landscape of Latvia with hills, blue sky and white clouds, which mirror in the lake water in a peculiar game of colors. There is a gentle and fragile movement in the painting - both in the figures of girls and in the painting of clouds. This painting contains a bright and unreal story (dancers above the water, as if flying over the worldly), which I want to tell in sound with my feelings and vision. Reflections of clouds in the lake - it's an inversion of Beethoven's popular melody. Composition Summer in Ballet Shoes is dedicated to the Vestard Shimkus, Latvian-born pianist who is the 1st-prize-winner of the Maria Canals Competition in Barcelona (2009) as well as a 1st-prize-winner winner of Bad Kissingen KlavierOlympiade (2007).
