Sunyata
Duration: 7'
Solos:
piano
Bringing the contrasts together and melting them into a state of unity is suggested from the first bars of the piece: the meeting of the lowest piano register with the highest one. The incessant change of measure, the different duration of the musical phrases, the slow tempo create an amorphous atmosphere, in which time seems to flow harder. The middle register of the piano is intended for contrasting, rhythmic musical structures. The return of the first musical idea in a slower tempo is suggesting the annihilation of the polar forces. Sunyata - the joyful emptyness - was dedicated to Moritz Ernst. The first audition of the work took place in Potsdam, during INTERSONANZEN International Festival on May 15, 2014.
