Work introduction
In accordance with the structure of the text written by Kahlil Gibran, I have tried to highlight the various aspects of beauty, viewed from the perspective of the mournful or of the passionate, of the tired one or of the noisy one. Polar pairs are musically reflected on different parameters such as timbre, dynamics, or the density of the musical textures. The subtlety of the musical discourse in certain segments of the work is opposed to a music with a pronounced emphatic character, a vigorous, energetic music. Beauty can be found in all the contrasting elements, but especially in the unity resulting from polar opposites.
The Prophet: on Beauty was performed for the first time by ATEM Ensemble during INTRADA Festival on September 25, 2014.
