Work introduction
Two Old English Songs is a setting of two poems: a 16th or 17 century anonymous statement previewing the speaker's imminent death, and light tale by John Skelton, probably from around 1500, about a young lady who loves, robs, and leaves an unsuspecting young man.
The chamber trio gives much of the flavor of ancient music, but clearly in a contemporary context.
