Work introduction
The score of Vivamus is inspired by Catullus' Carme 5, Vivamus mea Lesbia. In those famous verses, the Latin poet invites his lover to enjoy life through the fullness of the love experience. The music is inspired by the suggestion of those words and transforms poetry into a sound experience. Two instruments, the alto flute and the clarinet, like two lovers, dialogue with each other in an emotional crescendo supported by the strings.
This piece was written for alto flute, clarinet and string quartet, but it can also be performed by a chamber string orchestra.
