Work introduction
‘…con ecos de otras voces, desde lejos, desde muy lejos’ (With echoes of other voices, from afar, from far away) takes its inspiration from the writer and poet Rafael Alberti (El Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz, 16 December 1902 - ibidem, 28 October 1999) and his poetry book «Sobre los ángeles» («Concerning the Angels», written during the years 1927 and 1928, and first published in 1929).
Based on the Hindu perspective on emotions, a selection of poems from the aforementioned book by Alberti has been used to construct the logic and structure of the musical composition, assigning each emotion-poem an ‘acoustic allegory’. Essentially, the aim is not to describe - literally - the fascinating world of the Cadiz poet. In itself, each re-reading of a poem can offer a wide variety of interpretations.
In addition, from each selected poem only some specific verses have been taken, regrouping them in a new context in order to create new ‘tonalities and sparkles’ and to develop a particular lyrical-musical discourse, based on the poetics of the author.
