Work introduction
Music is the most abstract of all art forms. Since any explanations of the piece could violate the magic of the abstract, I prefer to speak of motifs that guided me for the composition "stop and go":
To focus on the Gran Cassa, the "Big Mum", from the fascinating and almost limitless variety of percussion instruments and to impose my compositional structures on it was one of the motives. Another was the familiarity with the musical and performative qualities of the percussionist Andreas Schiffer, with whom I had the pleasure of working for many years.
