Work introduction
This work can be considered a direct homage to the Chilean surrealist painter, Roberto Matta (1911-2002). Among his earliest stages of creation between 1938 and 1939, one findes the Inscape series titled, “Psychological Morphologies”. These works are Matta’s response to the Surrealist Movement’s vision of abstraction and what is not real. Musically, the composer approaches his composition in the same abstract and programatically disconnected manner, in contrast to his usual direct theatrical and dramaturgical approach towards musical creation. Although this work was composed in much brevity of time, the composer was constantly consumed visually with the work of Matta.
