Work introduction
The Sonata in 5 was composed in the autumn of the year 2000. The whole piece is written in 5/8 time. The duration of the piece is extremely short, less than six minutes. Nevertheless, all the characteristics of a sonata are present. The piece has only one tempo marking. It is Allegro molto from beginning to end. Although the tempo is not changed, all four movements of a "classical" sonata are heard. Fast - Slow - Scherzo - Finale. The density of the piece makes it a challenge not only for the pianist but also for the percussion players.
