Work introduction
Evolutionary biologist Gregory Bateson defined metalogue in his book Steps to an Ecology of Mind as a conversation that explores a particular problem in such a way as to reflect the problem itself in the structure of the conversation. This work for solo violin was written to investigate for myself this notion of self-aware, reflective conversation and structure in the form of music. -JR
