wo eine weise ist

In 1984, I founded the ‘Tiroler Ensemble für Neue Musik’. This ensemble was originally intended as a platform for musicians who were particularly interested in exploring contemporary music. I didn't have any casting ideas for this ensemble, I didn't want any casting limits, but rather a situation that was open to all interested parties. The result was a constantly changing, unusual, even unique body of sound that could probably not be found anywhere else. My ‚wo eine weise ist’ refers to this sound tradition of the ensemble. Although there were comments at the beginning such as ‘there's no need for that, it won't work anyway’ - in other words, the ensemble was pronounced dead before it began to live - I led it until 2003. Now the Tiroler Ensemble für Neue Musik / TENM is celebrating its 40th anniversary. I am delighted to be able to be part of this anniversary. I would like to thank this ensemble, under the direction of Harald Pröckl, for commissioning me to write a composition. The result: ‘wo eine weise ist’ based on texts from ‘lebensregelnnebel’ by Barbara Hundegger for ensemble.
