About the album
Natures is a concept album by composer David Chaillou. Its structure follows the timeline of a day, beginning with the effervescent energy of the quartet Vita Nova and gradually rising to the nocturnal, piano-whispered sound of Barque, the last of the ten tracks. These are imaginary landscapes that trace a path along which sound objects of different kinds enter into dialogue with each other. The traditional instruments - piano, cello, string quartet, percussion - interact in some pieces with natural elements that are part of the composer's sound space: for example, birdsong, the performer's voice and breath. This work, which thrives on the idea of resonance and listening to the world, continues the approach of Chaillou's first monographic CD Légendes.
