Universal Edition, Forum Gitarre, and MUK are announcing a composition competition for guitar works by women composers.

All female composers, regardless of age or location, are eligible to participate.

Original compositions or arrangements for solo guitar or two guitars with a duration of 5–10 minutes can be submitted.

The work selected by the all-female jury as the winning piece will be premiered on 22.08.2025 during the opening concert of Forum Gitarre in the Schubert Hall of the Wiener Konzerthaus.

Forum Gitarre Wien will schedule additional performance dates.

If the winner is not yet using scodo, she will receive a free professional subscription for one year worth €300, allowing the piece to be distributed exclusively via Universal Edition. In the event of use, the existing subscription will be converted to a free subscription. For all submitters who do not yet have a scodo subscription, UE will provide a voucher worth € 49 p. P for a free submission.

The submission deadline is 28.02.2025. The winner will be notified afterward.

The composer of the selected work is warmly invited to attend the premiere.

Submissions should include: 

– Score in PDF format 

– Description or information about the work 

– Short biography in continuous text form (max. 1,000 characters, including spaces) 

– Copyright-free portrait photo in print-ready resolution, including credit 

– Optional audio/video recordings of the work
