Autumn catalogue 2024
This year's autumn catalogue has a few surprises for you. For example, would you have guessed that there are two rediscoveries among the new publications?
Lio Hans, this is the pseudonym of the composer Lilly Scheidl-Hutterstrasser, wrote music history with her opera Maria von Magdala! The opera remained the only musical theatre work by a woman to be presented in Austria until the end of the 20th century. The Oriental Dances can be heard right at the beginning of the opera and are scored for solo piano.
The second rediscovery concerns Arvo Pärt: at the beginning of 1979, Pärt was at a concert in which his work Pro et Contra and Haydn's Violoncello Concerto No. 1 were performed. During the rehearsals, Pärt jotted down musical ideas that were premiered in February 1979. The manuscripts of the Two Cadenzas for Joseph Haydn's Violoncello Concerto in C major were rediscovered in 2023 during archival work at the Arvo Pärt Centre.
Apart from these jewels, we have a lot to offer!
