We are pleased to support the composition competition of the Kodály String Duo! Founded in 2022, the Kodály String Duo (KSDV) has earned global recognition as the representative ensemble of the string duo genre. They are the winners of multiple international competitions and they are known for captivating performances in renowned concert halls and festivals in numerous countries, sharing their vision and mission with the audience.

The first edition of the International Erwin Schulhoff Composition Competition (ISCC) of the Kodály String Duo will focus on the following string chamber music works:

• Duo (Violin, Cello)
• Trio (Violin, Viola, Cello)
• Quartet (2 Violins, Viola, Cello)
• Quintet (2 Violins, Viola, Cello, Doublebass/ 2. Cello)
• Sextet (2 Violins, 2 Violas, 2 Celli)
• Octet (4 Violins, 2 Violas, 2 Celli)

The maximal length of each work is 15 minutes, and it can contain multiple movements or just a single
movement. There is no age limit for the competition.

The deadline for submissions is January 1st, 2025.

Universal Edition awards annual subscriptions for our publishing tool scodo to the winners of the composition competition for 1 year (worth €300)!

Furthermore, Universal Edition offers all participants a voucher for a free submission to scodo (worth €49). If the submitted scores meet our quality guidelines, the composers will be included in the Universal Edition and can publish their works through scodo at Universal Edition.
