Jenö Takács biography

1902 – Born on September 25 in Siegendorf, Burgenland

1921–26 – Studied at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with Joseph Marx and Paul Weingarten

1926 – First meeting with Béla Bartók

1927–32 – Professor of piano at the Conservatory in Kairo

1932–34 – Professor of piano and composition at the University in Manila

1934–37 – Professor of piano at the Conservatory in Kairo

1938 – First trip to the U.S.A.

1939–48 – Director of the Conservatory in Pécs (Hungary)

1949–52 – Concert tours in Europe and America

1952–70 – Professor of piano and composition at the College Conservatory of the University of Cincincati, Ohio (U.S.A.)

1970 – took up residence in Siegendorf
